Toyota HBCUNY Classic
HBCU Football was in the process of coming back to the New York Tri-State area. Howard University and Morehouse College, two iconic HBCU’s had committed to playing at MetLife Stadium in September of 2022.
Given its track record of success securing significant, strategic corporate partners aligned with mission and importance of HBCU institutions, particularly with its long-standing partnership with the CIAA, Van Wagner was engaged to oversee the sponsorship program for the event as well as assist in the long-term strategic planning for the game and the events that can be created around the game to establish a week-long celebration of the HBCU community in the New York area.
The inaugural Classic was attended by over 35,000 fans, with Van Wagner successfully securing over $3 Million in sponsorship commitments from major brand like Toyota, Walmart, Google, Wells Fargo, Johnson & Johnson, Barclays, MetLife and the US Army among others.
