YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities (NIPD) is an award winning, not-for-profit health and human services agency for people with developmental and learning disabilities. Their mission is to build brighter futures for the people they serve and their families through state-of-the-art programs that help to build skills, expand opportunities, and enhance community living. 

Van Wagner is proud to be a continuous supporter of YAI-NIPD, donating media space to their annual public awareness campaign culminating in The Central Park Challenge, an event filled day taking place each spring. As quoted in the organization's Winter 2007 newsletter, "Van Wagner is honored to work in collaboration with an organization that champions a very important cause," said Richard Schaps, Chairman and CEO of Van Wagner Communications. "Van Wagner will help YAI promote its message by donating phone kiosk displays throughout Manhattan. We trust our resources will have a positive impact on the YAI's awareness efforts, allowing the organization to achieve its mission."

Indeed, this worthwhile cause illustrates just how effective a street level campaign can be. The focus of the creative is a call to action driving people to the web-site. It drives thousands of people to this annual event to show their support for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families. 

In 2006, they received 1.2 million hits on the web-site and the event was attended by approximately 5,000 people. The effort raised a then record-breaking amount of more than $1.2 million. The campaign raised greater public awareness as well.  More people than ever before learned about the remarkable accomplishments of individuals with disabilities, and about YAI/NIPD Network services available to help them and their families live the fullest lives possible. They built on this successful campaign and in 2007 surpassing their fundraising goal raising over $1.3 million, money that ensures the continued support of the YAI/NIPD Network's Margin of Excellence
