Van Wagner and Richard Schaps have been longtime supporters of Free Arts NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing the healing powers of the arts into the lives of abused, neglected, at-risk children and their families.

Through painting, dance, drama, writing, music, sculpture, photography and other outlets of creativity, Free Arts volunteer programs help children and families express emotions, gain self-confidence and develop positive methods of communication.

Van Wagner and Mr. Schaps, who is a founding director and was the original underwriting sponsor, have donated and continue to donate substantial funds to sustain Free Arts' good works for New York's disadvantaged youth.
